As research into sleep, aging, and Alzheimer’s disease accelerates, so does the need for consistency. A new international Delphi consensus study led by the Sleep and Circadian Rhythms group at ISTAART brings timely guidance to the field.

Published as a preprint [https://doi.org/10.1101/2025.04.06.25325352], this expert-led process identified:

  • The most relevant sleep and circadian features to assess in aging and dementia research
  • Clear recommendations for data collection and reporting
  • A set of priority areas for future studies

While not yet peer-reviewed, the recommendations offer a foundation for more coordinated, high-quality research. The next challenge? Translating these research guidelines into clinical practice.

If you work in this space, this consensus is worth bookmarking—it’s a shared framework to help move the field forward, together.
